Scott Rice has wrapped his second semester co-teaching a University of Texas film class with Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey. The class, called SCRIPT TO SCREEN, takes students behind the scenes of the 2016 film FREE STATE OF JONES written and directed by Gary Ross (THE HUNGER GAMES). By studying the movie’s source material, script, shot lists, storyboards, shooting schedule, VFX, final cut and even exclusive behind the scenes footage, film students garnered insight into the production of a major Hollywood feature. McConaughey himself conceived the class as an up-close and personal look at the realities of film production that takes students through the production process step-by-step. The result is an utterly unique learning experience with unprecedented access to one of America’s top film talents.
