Rice Makes National Appearance

Scott Rice was interviewed for Season 2 of STORIES OF THE MIND. The docuseries airs nationally this year on PBS. The episode called “Young Filmmakers” features his students who created documentaries about mental health issues. Rice taught two semesters of a production class at the University of Texas where grads from other departments including Psychology, Sociology and Social Work collaborated with production students to make films about disorders like PTSD, bulimia, bipolar and addiction.

Scott Rice served as creative director and segment director for season 2 of the Emmy-winning national PBS series STORIES OF THE MIND. The first episode, a two-parter about comedians and mental health, airs May 2 at 10pm on KLRU in Austin, Texas. The 10-episode season schedule can be found here.

Stories of the Mind Wins Emmy

Scott Rice won a Lone Star Emmy for his PBS series Stories of the Mind in the category Public Affairs Series. Producer Julie Almendral also received a statuette. The Mental Health Channel, which produced the series, was honored with an Emmy win as well. Accepting for the channel were network founders Harry Lynch and Jeff Fraley.

Directors Ashley and Leslie Saunders’ brand film YELLOW BRICK ROAD was recently featured on the Penfield website. The piece marks the directing team’s debut commercial for the London-based apparel company. It features Ashley Saunders in the main role of a woman exploring nature to the tune of famous movie quotes. The sisters also wrote the spot. It was shot by Allen Ho in Northern California.
